Black Powder
As our section name suggests we
shoot older style firearms which use Black Powder as a propellant.
This powder is usually only encountered now in fire works, but has
hundreds of years of history behind it , and is characterized by
its smell and copious amounts of smoke.
The sport can be very competitive
at whatever level you wish to go for and is hugely popular in many
parts of the World, particularly Europe and the U.S.A.
New Zealand has had great success
in International Competitions over the years in rifle, shotgun and
pistol events.
At the RR&GC we shoot twice
monthly, on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays, on No.2 Range, using
muzzle loading rifles, Black Powder cartridge rifles and
shotguns.
Although we do have some section
competitions and other Annual events, feel free to come along and
join in with whatever Black Powder firearm you have. Be assured you
will get any help that you need and pick up heaps of
knowledge.
If you are new to the sport it
would probably be to your advantage to come and have a chat with us
before even buying a firearm and accessories.
